Linda has been with the Hive since its inception as the Creativity and Innovation Initiative. She’s the O.G. who’s seen it all and is looking forward to seeing it all again … and more. Linda is a designer, holding a BS in Design from the University of [hook ‘em, Horns!] Texas at Austin, and is an artist practicing and interpreting Japanese art and aesthetics. She is a world traveler, avid runner, and beholder of all things good for you. Linda has a deep love for art and books, and art in books: shimodaworks.com

Shannon has been with the Hive since 2017 teaching workshops on empathy, creating in nature, and human-centered environmental design. Before coming to the Claremont Colleges, she lived in Africa, the South Pacific, and Southeast Asia doing applied environmental anthropological and design work to reframe environmental issues through local human perspectives. She is now leading students in these efforts through internship and design abroad programs with EnviroLab Asia. Shannon holds an MA and PhD in Anthropology from Stanford and is from B’more and South Carolina. She loves to bike, sing and make art.

Contact for questions or information on storytelling, community engagement, and environmental and anthropological approaches within design and creative approaches to research.

Jivika (PO ’17) is a multipotentialite who loves, and has diverse experience, working at the intersections of the media, marketing, sustainability and social impact worlds. She likes to think of herself as the CH20 (Chief Hive Happiness Officer), and slightly sassy programming princess you know she is. As a recipient of the Napier Award for Creative Leadership 2017, Jivika spent the last year leading social innovation and entrepreneurship education programs for hundreds of high school students across the Middle East and South Asia through her social enterprise; Aspir8.

Contact for questions or information about collaborating with the Hive to develop and schedule creative community workshops, events, activities, projects and pop-up classes.

Lily (SCR’ 18), took the Human Centered Design class (E 180) offered at the Hive and it changed her life forever… Lily has transitioned from being a veteran student staff member (creating podcasts and working on the rebranding of the Hive’s visual communication strategy) to a happy full-timer now experimenting with space/experience design and marketing. She believes in creating spaces and experiences that are welcoming and encourage experimentation/interaction. When she’s not busy getting her Hive on, Lily can be seen eating fruits, doodling in her journal, and going to escape rooms!
